Cucusoft Ultimate DVD + Video Converter suite is a video ripper/converter. It's unbelievable how many developers there are in the world of video/audio conversion. This is yet another application of that kind. This application tries to get a share of the video conversion market. It bundles two applications in one: a DVD ripper and a video converter. This approach has been proven to work before, but Cucusoft's take just doesn't cut it. It supports a vast number of formats, such as H264, MP4, WMV, AVI, MOV, RM, 3GP, flv, SWF, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, VCD, SVCD, and DVD. However, most other applications support those formats too, and add more functionality, too, like downloading videos off YouTube. The user interface is OK. All the coloring tends to confuse the user, but is overall acceptable. This suite allows you to convert your DVDs to any of the formats supported (DVD Ripper) and convert files between those formats. But what really turned me off is the price tag. This application is $59.95, and I recall being able to buy more complete applications for half that price. So I would say that if you are really in need of a video converter or a DVD ripper and want those two applications in one single package, and you don't mind the high price, go ahead and buy it. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, Any DVD Converter works great and is way cheaper. |
